Use the same email address and password you use in the browser. You do not need a separate desktop account.
The first sign-in
- Open the app and enter your email address and password.
- If you belong to more than one organization, choose the one you are about to work for.
- You land on the tracker, with your projects loaded.
Your session is stored in your operating system's keychain, either Windows Credential Manager or the macOS Keychain, and not in a file the app leaves lying around. You stay signed in for weeks, so you do not need to sign in every morning.
Choosing the right organization
Everything the app does belongs to the organization you picked: the project list, the screenshot and idle rules, the timezone your day is measured in. If your projects look wrong, check this first.
To move to another organization, use the organization switcher in the app's settings. Stop any running timer before you switch.
"You already have a timer running somewhere"
If the app tells you a timer is already active on another machine, that is a real warning and not a glitch. Only one timer can run for you at a time, and signing in here would take the session over.
The safe thing is to go to the other machine and stop the timer properly, so its final minutes sync. If you cannot get to it, for instance a laptop left at the office, you can force the sign-in, but the tail of that session may be lost. Check your timesheet afterwards and correct it if needed.
If you are signed out unexpectedly
Sessions expire, and an administrator removing you from an organization ends yours immediately. Sign in again. If it keeps happening within a day or two, contact your administrator, because your membership may have been changed.
The server address field
There is an advanced option on the sign-in screen for the server address. Leave it alone unless your organization has given you a specific address to use. A wrong value here is a common cause of "cannot connect".
