The Member Finance report

The same money as Project Finance, seen person-first, and why payroll figures sit beside it instead of inside it.

Open Reports → Member Finance. Where Project Finance groups money by project, this groups the same money by person.

It is a regrouping, not a recalculation

The report takes the identical priced hours Project Finance uses and folds them member-first. That is why the two agree: one set of amounts, added up in two orders. If they ever look different, check the filters before doubting the numbers.

What each row shows

  • Hours tracked over the range.
  • What those hours cost, at their pay rate or the project's pay-per-hour where they have none.
  • A breakdown by project.
  • What has been invoiced to them and what is still outstanding.

Three things it always includes

  • Past members, counted and labelled instead of hidden. Somebody who worked half the period belongs in the period's cost.
  • Deleted projects, always. Work done on a project you later removed still cost you money.
  • Unassigned time, as its own row, where hours exist with no member attached. A visible oddity beats a total that quietly does not add up.

Payroll is shown separately

Where payroll figures exist for a period they appear alongside the invoice figures, never merged into them, with a note explaining why they differ.

The two settle the same period in different ways. A payable invoice prices tracked hours per project. Payroll pays a period, including leave and holidays, with tax and deductions applied. Both are correct, they are not the same number, and adding them together would double-count.

Payroll figures are read exactly as they were saved instead of recalculated, so what you see is what was paid.

Comparing with Project Finance

Set the same date range, and tick Include deleted on Project Finance. The total cost then matches to the cent.

Who should see it

Every pay rate in your organization is on this page. Restrict it as tightly as you restrict pay conversations themselves. Clients are refused it outright.
